Bear Valley is a residential community and ski area located in the California Sierra
south of Lake Tahoe and north of Yosemite. Bear Valley Residents, Inc. is a non-profit
organization formed for the benefit of Bear Valley property owners and to administer the
Covenants, Conditions, and Restrictions of the New Subdivision. BVRI owns and maintains
two beaches at Bear Lake, publishes a periodic newsletter for members, and represents the
interests of Bear Valley residents on a variety of community and local governmental
issues.

The following people were elected to the Board: Jack
Wedgwood, Randy Mancini, Tom Fraser, Kim Lemieux, and Curt Wozniak.

The Bear Valley Parents Group is reinstating the Community
Yard Sale, and they're seeking donations. They'll have a tent at parking lot
B the same days the "spring cleaning" dumpsters will be there - July 6 and
7. The tent will be operating 10am to 4pm. If items you would have put in
the dumpster are still useable for somebody else you can donate them to BVPG
to sell during the Soap Box Derby. Contact

The Board of Supervisors voted to approve the amended
Environmental Impact Report. And the appeal of the Forest Service's
Environmental Assessment was withdrawn. The enabling documents for the Bear
Valley Village Partners to proceed with their development plans are now in
place.

The state is moving to make the "fire tax" fee permanent. If
you wish to protest, support the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers' Association
lawsuit against it, or support legislation to repeal it, go to
www.firetaxprotest.org.

Members have asked about the hantavirus cases in
Yosemite. Alpine Co. Health Officer Dr. Richard Harvey says there have been
no documented cases in our county. He sent this
material to answer questions.

At the request of members, we are starting a Frequently Asked
Questions feature. Click here to see. It is modest at
the moment, and we anticipate that it will grow as people send more
questions of general interest.

It's time for the annual BVRI dues payment.

The California Public Utility Commission ruled that although
Aspen Forest should have filed an application to buy 50% of Lake Alpine
Water Company, it is in the public interest that the sale be allowed to
proceed. The BVRI Board previously voted to send a letter to the CPUC,
supporting the current owners and opposing a change in ownership.

Alpine County Director of Public Works Brian Peters made a
presentation on long range financial planning for county roads at the CSA
meeting on September 15. County revenues, especially timber receipts, are
declining and we need to start planning for the future. Here's the link to

- BVRI maintains the beaches at Bear Lake for its members. The beaches may be
available for group or private functions if certain conditions are met. Click
