TRANSPORTATION SERVICES
Q. What is the schedule for the shuttle bus from the Village to the Mountain?
A. The usual bus schedule is hourly departures on weekends and holiday periods, and 9am, noon, and 3pm departures on weekdays. If you want to be absolutely sure that this schedule is current, call the mountain at 753-2301 and press 0 to speak with a live person.
Q. What services or people are available to transport people between the Village and their house?
A. This has been a tough issue historically, mostly because of insurance costs and the unpredictability of the need for such services. Bear Valley Snowmobile (753-2323) has snowmobiles for rent, and they also run a taxi service from 9am to 5pm. They charge $25 one way (3 person max). The do this to transport people to and from their houses, and also to get people to their houses at the end of a ski day. They also help people out of tough snow situations when called (for a fee). They do have limited staff, so it is best to call and make arrangements in advance.
PARKING CARS AND/OR SNOWMOBILES
Q. Do I need to move my car for Village parking lot snow plowing?
A. If it has been snowing since you last parked your car, you need to call 753-6155 before 9am on the days with restricted parking for your lot. A recording will inform you whether you need to move your car or not. If in doubt call, but if the date on the recording is wrong, it's safest to move your car.
Q. Where do I park my snowmobile when I am at my Bear Valley house during the winter?
A. One of the biggest challenges in Bear Valley in the winter is keeping the roads packed. There must be room for the groomer to get through at all times. By county code, snowmobiles must be parked off of the road. You may need to shovel a spot or contact a local entrepreneur to pack out a spot for your snowmobile that is not on the groomed road. Phil Davis (753-2136), Jason Comfort (728-2152), John Henry Watts (753-6226), and Mark White (768-2288) provide this service by prearrangement. Mark Silverstone (768-1234) and Joe Zibley (753-2492) are available for snow shoveling and house opening and closing. Whatever you do, DO NOT park your snowmobile in a place that blocks access for the road groomer. Tickets are not cheap.
