The County has released the Draft Environmental Report on
village development. You can find it on the Alpine County website at
http://www.alpinecountyca.gov/departments/planning/planning_environmental_review.
There will be a public meeting
to present it on October 18, 10am, at the Bear Valley Lodge. Comments can be
sent through the website where the document is found. The BVRI Board will be
submitting comments, and you may send your input to
bvri@goldrush.com for consideration
of inclusion in BVRI's comments. Some of the appendices to the Draft EIR
aren't out yet, so you may want to check back at the County website
periodically. The comment period ends November 7, 5pm. The BVRI Board and
the committee on the EIR will meet Saturday, October 18 at 4pm at the County
Services Building to discuss the EIR and BVRI's possible response. The
meeting is open to all, and phone conferencing is available. Toll free
dial-in number is 641-715-3200, participant code is 475654#.

The results of the second survey on home size are in. Of 426 ballots
sent out, 160 were returned with a "Yes" (change the CC&R's to restrict
house size) vote, 98 "No". 168 ballots were not returned. Changing the
CC&R's would require 214 votes. Since the votes to change were 54 short of
that number, the Board voted not to proceed with an official CC&R election
at this time. Click here for more information.
- The Bear Valley Parents Group has a job opening for a teacher for the
daycare/preschool program. Click here for information.
Also, the Parents Group is putting together a public children's playground for
Bear Valley. They've gotten grant money and other donations, but they need
more. Click here for more
information on how you can help.
- The scoping session on March 24 regarding future development plans was well
attended. Click here for a summary of the proceedings.
- The Bear Valley Village Partners gave presentations on their updated development
plans on July 27 and 28, 2007. Click here for a report. At the
Sept. 3 2006 general meeting, the Board established a second committee to follow up on the
information gathering of the communications committee. The Board as a whole is the core of
the phase 2 committee, but the committee is open to anyone and several people have already
signed up. The phase 2 committee will work with the information gathered to identify areas
of concern and make comments to the developers. If you want to be on the phase 2 committee
or if you have input for them, please e-mail bvri@goldrush.com.
The phase 1 committee, charged with establishing good communication with the developers,
met with their representatives on September 19, 2006, to exchange information and pass
along input received from the community. Click here to see what
happened at that meeting.
